Working in their home studio, they are inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds them. The old rock walls, twisted vines, the simple beauty in a flower, a deer walking through the fields, the birds at the feeder.
This path all started after Bill graduated from Cornell in the early 70’s and worked for the university as a lab technician. As a hobby he cut stones and then learned how to set them. This life altering step introduced him to becoming a craftsman, a journey he has lived with a passion ever since.
Thirty something years ago Margie was recovering from a fractured wrist. To get back wrist rotation following the healing process, Bill put a pair of jeweler’s pliers in her hand and gave her some wire to bend. She never returned to her previous profession of Nursing.
Though primarily self-taught, they have studied over the years with Master Jewelers, taking numerous workshops at Horizons Craft Center in Amherst, Massachusetts: Peters Valley Craft Center in Layton, New Jersey and The North Country Studio Conference at Bennington College in Vermont. Annually they search the Gem & Mineral Shows in Tucson, Arizona and hand select the stones, fossils, pearls and beads used along with Sterling and 14K Gold in their hand fabricated, original designs.
